Principal fields of scholarly interest are Cervantes and Spanish poetry, mainly 20th Century Spanish peninsular. Professor Fajardo did his doctorate at the University of Chicago. 

He is the author of books on the poet Luis Cernuda and Rafael Alberti, editor of various collections of essays on 20th century Spanish poetry and co-editor of a recently published collection on Don Quixote.
